NEW YORK — The NBA is taking a fresh look at its roster heading into its first preseason game next week, and one of its marquee players will likely get some time in the spotlight as the league looks to get its act together.
Nwea Jones, the All-Star center who spent four years in Minnesota and a second with the Wolves, will start training with the Minnesota Timberwolves at the start of the preseason on Friday and will be in a position to participate in a preseason game on Sunday.
The Wolves are expected to start with the fourth-highest record in the league with a winning record.
Nwaele, who played eight seasons in Minnesota, will begin training camp on Tuesday.
The Wolves will begin their training camp Monday, when they host the Chicago Bulls.
The Bulls will play their first preseason games on Thursday in a series that kicks off on Friday night at 6:30 p.m.
