A porn star and a former porn star have been arrested on charges they sold more than 100 million pounds of human sex organs, including one to an 18-year-old girl, in a sex ring in a southern California county, the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office said Monday.
Johnnie Rodriguez, who was arrested Monday, faces 10 counts of human trafficking and five counts of sex trafficking, according to the district attorney.
He has been jailed on $1 million bail and will appear in court for a preliminary hearing next month, the district Attorney’s office and prosecutors said.
He and his attorney did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Rodriguez was arrested after authorities found more than 4,000 organs, the DA’s office reported.
He has been charged with 13 counts of illegal possession of human organs.
The state attorney’s announcement of the charges came after a search of his home, which also contained dozens of videos, and more than 10,000 emails and text messages.
He faces one count of human smuggling, five counts each of human organ trafficking, human trafficking by a minor and human trafficking with intent to sell, the prosecutor’s office added.
Rodriquez is one of several former porn stars arrested by the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department and a California Department of Justice task force that investigated the sex ring.
The agency also is investigating alleged fraud at an online sex marketplace.
A third former porn performer, who police say also worked at a sex shop, is also being held on $5 million bail.
